But as recent cases in Victoria show, you must simply follow the rules !! Victoria allows living in a caravan - if it does not cause a nuisance. It must be registered as a caravan - simple, cost an extra $1000 or so plus annual rego. Also in another case a huge building in the front driveway can be called a nuisance, in our opinion it looks awful. |
Note most local authorities require you to have the tiny house registered as a caravan, we can assist with this. |

- Complying with the building regulations so the tiny house could be used as a permanent home on a normal block is difficult, matters to be considered include:- - Insulation under the new building regulations requires thick walls which restrict available space inside. - The height and set back rules will restrict how close the tiny home can be to the property boundaries. - Space for fitting a laundry tub must be found. - An awning must be provided over the front door. - Level access must be provided into the front door. - Our design complies with ceiling height requirements of building regulations. We can provide detailed advice. |

- Potentially the floor area can be a full 1/2 bedroom size of 70 m2, - Compared with only 24 m2 for a standard caravan profile. - Current models on the market are not satisfactory. - They need to be registrable as a caravan which we can arrange. - Also they should comply to the Building Act to cover all options, again not difficult for us to design. |
